Pasikuda
Around thirty-five kilometers’ northwest of Batticaloa town on the east coast of Sri Lanka lies Pasikuda, a coastal town with a spectacular, blue bay and soft, sandy beaches. The beauty of this town was greatly untouched until recently, as the Sri Lankan Civil War kept tourists and local visitors away from this area until the end of the war in 2009.
Pigeon Island
Pigeon Island, a kilometer’s boat ride away from Nilaveli Beach, Trincomalee, is made up of two charming islands, one small and the other slightly larger. It is believed to have got its name from the endemic blue rock pigeons that inhabit the island. Its isolated location made it an ideal site for the British Army to practice shooting, during the period of British rule.
TRINCOMALEE
Trincomalee, located on the east coast of Sri Lanka, is renowned as one of the most picturesque natural harbors of the world. Over the centuries, it has attracted various groups of foreign invaders and colonists, who recognized its potential as a major port city, and today, it remains one of the island's most popular tourist attractions, around 257 kilometers from Colombo.
Beruwala
A short drive away from Colombo, Beruwela is a charming coastal town in the south of Sri Lanka. A top destination for sunny holidays and water sports, Beruwela also has a rich cultural heritage, owing to the large Muslim population as well as other communities that make this town their home, making fishing and gem trade their primary livelihoods.
Bentota
The peaceful and sunny town of Bentota has always been a favorite amongst holidaymakers and water sports enthusiasts. The lagoons and golden beaches of Bentota give visitors plenty to do during the day, from swimming amidst the crashing waves of the sea to taking fun boat rides on the calmer waters of the lagoon.
Unawatuna
The vibrant town of Unawatuna remains one of the top holiday destinations, even considered by some to have one of the best beaches in Asia. During the Dutch colonial period, the Dutch settlers, who fought for Galle in 1640, built houses for their officers in this town, some of which are seen to date, in their untouched exteriors.
